Aistear – Animals
Our theme this month in Aistear is animals. We have been learning how to care for sick animals in the Vets and also creating animals and homes for animals in our construction, creative and playdough areas. We’ve been having lots of fun and we hope you like our pictures.
Spring Poem
The children learned a Spring Poem where they had to decide on some of the lines, to follow the pattern from the 1st verse !
Ask them and see what you think!
Verse one is:
In my Spring garden by the apple tree
Daffodils are dancing, one,two,three.
Biongó!
Is é ‘Bia’ ceacht gaeilge na seachtaine.
Inniú bhíomar ag imirt cluiche ‘Biongó’ leis na bhfoclóir nua.
This week’s theme: Spring
This week we are learning all about the season of Spring. Here are some ideas to help further your child’s learning at home:
- Chat to your child about Spring.
- Look at Spring flowers when walking together. Ask your child to name the flowers. (daffodils, snowdrops, tulips)
- Point out lambs if you see them on The Curragh.
- Look out for birds’ nests in the trees and listen to the birds singing.
- Talk about the weather.
- Look out for leaves, flowers and animals that are growing.
Ellen’s Google Adventure
Ellen went to Google HQ yesterday for the prize giving ceremony for Doodle4Google. The competition was won by Kelly McCabe (8) from Dublin. It must’ve been so difficult to pick a winner from the 75 finalists as all the artwork was so amazing. Scoil Mhuire and Room 12 are so proud of Ellen for getting so far in the competition. Ellen and her Mam, had a wonderful day exploring Google HQ in Dublin! Check out the video and also a link to this article and video on the Irish Independent website here
