PARENTS COUNCIL 2017-2018
The Parents Council in Scoil Mhuire Junior School are actively involved in working with the principal and staff for the betterment of the children in the school. We support and empower parents to be active in the best interests of their children’s educational lives. Currently within Scoil Mhuire we have an action packed activity calendar that runs each year and this is only possible due to the parents who volunteer a few hours a month to make it work.
There are 2 fundraisers a year and all monies raised goes back into the school to give your child the best education possible. Below is the activity calendar of events that are run throughout the year and this year we hope to include one or two more. The Parents Council is open to any parent of the school to join and some parents simply volunteer just to help out in busy times of the year i.e. Halloween, Christmas & Easter.
The proposed activity Calendar for 2017-2018:
- Junior Infant Parents Tea/Coffee morning in September.
- Witches Walk at Halloween (Fundraiser).
- Santa & Mrs Claus Visit in December along with Christmas surprises.
- Bunny Hop at Easter (Fundraiser).
- Easter Egg Treasure Hunt at Easter.
- Communion Day Refreshments for 2nd Class parents in May.
- Communion Class Photographs.
- Summer Fun Day/Uniform Sale in June.
Additional projects are the New Parent Junior Infant Information booklet & the Super Trooper Programme which is run for 2nd Class children. We have also run various Training Courses through the National Parents Council of Ireland in the past and will continue to run for parents within the school.
None of the above would be possible if it wasn’t for the parents who give up a little of their time each month. The Parents Council meet on the first Wednesday of the month so if you wish to come along to our meetings @9.05am and gain a little more information, no obligation please do so. An express your interest sheet can be found on the Parents Council notice board which is situated in the main foyer just inside the main office door of the school, alternatively you can fill in and submit the form below or email email@example.com.
